The Martin de Porres Center’s Proyecto Mariposas (Project Butterflies) empowers girls and women to be leaders in their communities.

Through education and conversation on mental health, art projects encouraging creativity, and other collaborative activities, Proyecto Mariposas is committed to serving Latina moms and their daughters in Columbus. The program also has service days that include litter cleanup and the packing of hygiene supplies for donation. The group’s leaders are especially sensitive to the Latinx culture, with both Director Yahaira Rose and Ixalia Ortiz being native Spanish speakers. Proyecto Mariposas encourages pride of culture in all its members.

Proyecto Mariposas now serves more than 300 children across 15 schools.

Proyecto Mariposas is a 501C3 run by Martin de Porres Director Yahaira Rose, and works in partnership with the Martin de Porres Center to serve Columbus Youth.
